The location is a bit remote from any points of interests or small towns, but the grounds and features of the resort itself make you want to stay. The landscaping and lay of this hillside property is truly beautiful. Without leaving the resort we saw plenty of wildlife... monkeys, parrots, toucans, iguanas, etc. Despite reading some reviews that the food was not too highly regarded, we never had a bad meal... my wife and I rate the food and drinks a solid 9. The open-air restaurant is lovely., especially in the evenings. The breakfast buffet offers 10 or 12 nice items daily, as well a someone who cooks eggs and omelets to order. The huge freshwater pool is beautiful. We used it for hours at a time... as well as the swim-up pool bar, where drink prices are inline with any nice facility. We also spent time at the two thermal pools and used the mud bath facility one occasion. None of these features was every overcrowded... we were often alone or part of a small number of people. The steam hut is really amazing... a simple wood shack located directly atop natural boiling steam features. You can hear the boiling sounds beneath you as you take in the steam. Our personal cabin was beautifully done inside with a nice small deck. The bed, pillows and linens were nice too. The bathroom was plenty large for two. The a.c. worked very well. The cabins and rooms are all scattered along a hillside with one main winding road through the property. No cars are allowed, so you can either walk or use their free shuttle service at any time. We stayed 3 nights here as part of a 10 day Costa Rican getaway... we could easily have stayed longer. Many guests used this resort as a base to explore other day trips. We really enjoyed just relaxing here all day and all night. This was out fourth visit to Costa Rica. We have stayed at many different locations at a wide variety of prices per night, for what it has to offer, we felt this place was a real value for the money.

The property was really beautiful. We were glad we got a shuttle instead of renting. It was much more relaxing. We went zip lining and horseback riding the prices were fair. We did not realize the 23% fees/ taxes were 13% taxes 10% fees/ tips. So we tipped on top of that. We loved the servers so it’s okay but it would have been nice to know. Communication seemed a little on the need to know basis. The beds were super comfortable. The hot pools were great , short little hikes pretty, pool beautiful. It was a magnificent setting. It really was an excellent experience.

El Borinquen was amazing! The road to the resort can be a little off-setting, but once you arrive you realize that it was 100% worth the travel. The staff was incredibly accommodating, helpful, kind and easy to communicate with. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The grounds are breathtaking. The pools are clean and very fun, and the mud bath was one of the highlights of our trip to CR. The restaurant was delicious, again the staff was fantastic. Breakfast was simply amazing!!! We can't wait to go back, and are already planning when we can do this!

The resort setting is beautiful! It was very peaceful. The cabins were quiet, clean and comfortable. We saw spider monkeys, howler monkeys, toucans, coatis, agoutis and green parrots on the property. We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. The food was good, but not the best we had in Costa Rica. It was the perfect ending to our vacation! It was only one hour and fifteen minutes to the Liberia Airport. The road wasn’t too bad for our suv. It was worth the effort to get to this resort!

Stunning property. Loved the pool and mud baths. Did horseback riding with Oscar, he was great. Also ziplined which was amazing. Our guides were so much fun, made it a great experience. Food in restaurant was lovely, nice selection at breakfast. Monkeys and tons of birds to see while sitting in the restaurant. Got our exercise each day walking up and down to pool and mud baths. Steep hills but a lovely way to see the property:
